"Wow. Great explanation and presentation!" - S. Greason
Lucan Area Heritage & Donnelly Museum is dedicated to the preservation and retelling of the most famous historical events of the area…events such as the arrival and settlement of the area by Irish immigrants, the infamous Donnelly murders, recounted in song, story and plays throughout Canada, and the founding of Wilberforce by a Black community from Cincinnati.
"What an incredible history! Worth the drive!" - D. & E. Cook
Here at the Lucan Area Heritage & Donnelly Museum, we are also committed to providing accessibility for all of our visitors.
Familiarize yourself with the Donnelly story by watching our 20-minute introductory video about the family. Once finished, feel free to take yourself on a self-guided tour of the Museum. Have a question about something specific during your tour? One of our staff members would be more than happy to assist you! Once finished with your tour of the Museum itself, you can then visit both our replica of the Donnelly Family Cabin and our barn, both of which are chock-full of period specific artefacts!
Pre-Booked Tours Available for Groups of 10 or More Year Round!
The Museum hosts tours of the Museum and its facilities to school groups, coach bus tours, special interest groups, and family groups.
If you've got the bus, we've got the tour!
Tour the Museum site. Then take the 'Vigilante Bus Tour' hosted by a Museum representative which will trace the path taken by the Vigilance Committee the night of February 3, and early morning hours of February 4, 1880 when the Donnelly Family was massacred.
"This really got me into the spirit of things!" - Y. Betts, London, ON
